Fun Facts About New Hampshire

Did you know that the red-spotted newt became the State Amphibian in 1985? Did you know that they call New Hampshire the Granite State because of the large amount of granite and quarries? Here are some more facts about New Hampshire.

The State Flower is the Purple Lilac.

The Purple Finch is the State Bird.

New Hampshire became the 16th State in 1788 and it was one of the original 13 colonies.

It is also called the White Mountain State because of the White Mountain Range.

New Hampshire has approximately 1300 lakes and ponds.

The highest point in New Hampshire is Mount Washington, at approximately 6, 288 feet.

The Capital of New Hampshire is Concord, but the largest city is Manchester.

New Hampshire has over 50 covered bridges.

    Very interesting facts about this state. I didn’t realize there were so many covered bridges left in New England. It seems purple is popular in this state. Purple finches and lilacs.
