Shocking Moments in Entertainment History

October 18th, 2005

· Namu, the Killer Whale was a movie that was released in 1966. Shortly after the film had wrapped, Namu died of drowning.

· The Babe Ruth Story was released in 1948. The Babe left his death bed to watch the filming of the Yankee Stadium scene.

· A Charlie Brown Christmas was the first peanuts animated special. It was released in 1965. The actors were all children young enough that they didn’t know how to read. They learned their lines phonetically. The show won both an Emmy and a Peabody Award. Pretty good for kids who couldn’t read.

· While filming The Three Stooges Meet Hercules, both Larry and Joe feel out of a moving chariot. Joe, who weighed in at 250 pounds fell on Larry and knocked him unconscious. Though Larry didn’t sustain any injuries in the fall, while he was being checked at the hospital, it was found he was a diabetic.

· The most shocking moment in television history was when the verdict “Not Guilty,” was read at the O.J. Simpson trial.

· Doctor Zhivago was released in 1965. The “ice palace,” was created completely from a special wax.

· The lady who Doctor Zhivago tried to help onto the train after taking her baby actually did fall under the train. She was injured, but survived the incident. The scene was actually used in the film. Though viewers don’t see her get injured, they do see her fall.

Though these facts are silly, I found them very interesting. My favorite is the “ice palace” information. I’ve seen Doctor Zhivago several times and that scene always amazes me. Imagine everything coated with that much ice.

I also found the fact about Babe Ruth visiting Yankee Stadium while on his death bed very interesting. I learned a lot from these facts. I hope to find more of your work on this site.

  2. Jordan Says:

I love a Charlie Brown Christmas. Mom won’t let me watch the Three Stooges.

  3. Dorothy Says:

Jordan, how old are you. It’s probably wise that Mom doesn’t let you watch the three stooges. They are rather violent, though it wasn’t real, but kids sometimes thinks it is.

Interesting about Babe Ruth. I have watched that movie several times.

I can’t imagine an Orca drowning. Does anyone know how this happened?

  5. doris Says:

Interesting facts. I was wondering if we could have a forum where we can request specific types of trivia? Not somewhere to chat, but to put in requests. Thanks

  6. Administrator Says:

thank you for suggesting that doris. I will take that into consideration. As for now you can request any fact by email us at contact@hotfact.com.

Wow! It’s great to know we can request trivia. Thanks a lot Admin. Appreciate that. How about some trivia for guys, though I’ve enjoyed all that I’ve read here tonight. I will be back. Maybe fishing trivia, sports trivia or articles, chess, checkers, poker, beer, LOL I would be interested in all of them.

flower, nope, have no idea how a whale could drown, but suppose they could. Food for thought.

Enjoyed this trivia a lot. How about Star Wars, Lord of the Rings etc.

  8. Gail Says:

It’s nice that we can request trivia. How about something on old time entertainers such as Bob Hope, Roy Rogers and the Saturday morning cowboy crew, Red Skeleton, Carol Burnett? The other thing I’d like to see is some trivia about the old radio programs.

  9. Sally Says:

This is all very interesting. The fact about Babe Ruth is intriging. People do awesome things when they are dying and the Babe certainly wasn’t a quitter.

  10. Bonnie Says:

Would like more about older movies and the actors and actresses

  11. Tragically Hip Says:

How about editing that trivia about the three stooges? He didn’t feel out of a chariot. He FELL out of the chariot!
