Poker Terms

October 6th, 2005

The term “cripple” as used in the game of poker, simply means that you have crippled the deck for your opponent, because you currently hold a card or cards that he or she needs to complete a winning hand. For example, if your opponent is trying to score a royal flush, but needs the Ace of hearts and you have it, you have crippled his game. In many styles of poker, you won’t know what cards other players hold, but in games such as seven card stud, at least four cards are showing.
