Pizza Fact

October 19th, 2005

Pizza was introduced to Americans by Italian immigrants around the turn of the 20th Century. The first pizza restaurant debuted in America in the early 1900’s in New York, and pizza has continued to rise in popularity ever since.

While other pizza restaurants began to pop up, it wasn’t until the 1950’s that pizza franchises, such as Pizza Hut, came on the scene. Later, home delivery created even more popularity as women began working outside the home and found less time to prepare the evening meal.

Pizza is one of America’s favorite foods and is now celebrated during “National Pizza Month” each year in October.

Pizza contains all of the food groups. However, one slice of pizza is all that you should eat at one sitting and not many people can do that.

Pizza was invented by poor farmers, in what year Im not sure, but they had few things to eat but some bread, tomatos they grew and cheese from their cows.

It is a common belief in China that Marco Polo (Italian discoverer) got the concept of the pizza from his travels through out Asia.
Chinese like to claim it’s invention for themselves, though they used mostly eggs and vegetables as ingredients.
