One of the original thirteen colonies, Massachusetts became the sixth state in 1788.

Boston is the largest city in Massachusetts.

The State Flower is the Mayflower and the State Insect is the Ladybug.

Famous people from Massachusetts include: Louisa May Alcott, E.E. Cummings, Bette Davis, John F. Kennedy, Nathaniel Hawthorne, Norman Rockwell, and Barbara Walters.

Massachusetts was home to the famous Boston Tea Party.

The highest point in Massachusetts is Mount Greylock at over 3, 487 feet.

The State Tree is the American Elm.

The State Dog is aptly named the Boston Terrier.
