Ford Mustang
December 30th, 2005Detroit cashed in big time, manufacturing large cars that became even more vogue after World War II, providing safety and space for families of the soldiers who returned home.
By 1964 people were ready for something smaller and a little more exciting. Ford was more than happy to fill the bill. Their new car was launched in an advertising campaign that featured a mild-mannered Henry Foster turning into a freewheeling playboy, driving a fast, sporty – and at $2,368, affordable – Ford Mustang.
During its peak year in 1966, 550,000 Mustangs were sold. Over the years Ford has redesigned the model several times in an attempt to recapture the “Mustang magic” of the mid 60’s, which it never quite achieved. Nevertheless, the Ford Mustang lives on, though bigger and less sporty than its original version.
