Fashion Trivia that’ll Knock Your Socks Off
December 26th, 2005Did you know that the Roaring Twenties saw women dressed in dashing, slim attire, while in 1947 Christian Dior’s fashions highlighted tiny waists and voluminous skirts, and the “feminine fifties,” with emphasis on home and family, put focus on shirtwaist dresses for “the proper woman?”
Did you know that it was glamour girl Louise Brooks who inspired the head-hugging shingled hair bob during the mid-‘20s?
Did you know that cotton t-shirts started out as underwear carried home from France by “doughboys” after World War I, becoming a statement of youthful rebellion after James Dean wore one in Rebel Without a Cause? T-shirts were then adopted as personal billboards in the 1960s – displaying allegiance to favorite causes, sentiments, brands of foods, etc. – worn by young and old alike.
