Did you know that Maine has the most eastern city in the United States? Do you know what famous people come from Maine? Here are some great facts about the state of Maine.

The highest point in Maine is Mount Katahdin, at 5,267 fee tall.

There are 16 counties. Aroostook County is larger than the states of Connecticut and Rhode Island combined.

Average snowfall during the winter months is between 60” and 90”. Maine has more than 25 ski areas.

There are approximately 3,500 miles of coastline.

Maine has approximately 6,000 lakes and ponds.

The Maine Coon Cat is the official cat of Maine.

The State Animal is the Moose. The moose averages between 600 and 1000 lbs.

Famous people from Maine include Patrick Dempsey, Stephen King, Linda Lavin, Judd Nelson, Victoria Rowell, Tim Sample, Harriet Beecher Stowe, and E. B. White.

Maine is best known for its lobster and blueberries.

The eastern most point of the United States is in Eastport, Maine.

    Maines ruggedly beautiful coast, intended with many natural harbors has made the state a popualar summer resort area and haven for artists

    the coast line is about 228 miles not taking account to the bays inlets and river estiaries. With thoses accounted Maines coastline is about 3,478 miles long making it the longest in the nation.

    the coastline has so many deep harbors it is thought that all the naives in the world could anchor in them!!!
