Fact about the Sun

October 21st, 2005

The largest object in the entire solar system is the sun.

The sun is 93 million miles (1496 million kilometers) from Earth.

The temperature at the sun’s core is 15 million degrees.

Energy that is generated at the sun’s core doesn’t reach its surface for a million years.

Solar eclipses will occur on March 29, 2006 and August 1, 2006.

The sun is young at 4.6 million years. It will burn for at least another 5 billion years.

Without the sun, everything on Earth would die. The world as we know it would cease to exist.
